TUNZE COMLINE PROTEIN
SKIMMER 3110/2
OK,
so the 'adjusting' of the skimmer is a serious bitch (pardon). I have tweaked
and tweaked and still do not see much production off gunk unless it is watery
and like weak-to-medium tea. Ideally--from all I have read--a skimmer should
produce dark, dry organic nastiness. I really have never seen it produce this.
It can take some time for the skimmer to actually settle in after an adjustment.
For instance, I have several times adjusted the white screw and not seen much
change in the skimmer. However, hours later I check it and the skimmer is
Here
is the top without the collection cup. The white screw to adjust air intake
is at the back. There are 2 other holes. I have read that some use this for
ozonation...? I have no idea about that use. Why there are two I do not know.
This
is the way it conects to / hangs on the tank. This must have been designed
for a different type of tank because it is not an ideal design for mine. More
on this...
Here
is a view of the inside. The green tube attached to the motor does not come
up through this hole. Instead it goes up through the other side. Very hard
to describe. There are two levels to the interior. I really didn't grasp
the design to this at all.
overflowing
with bubbly water. So do keep this in mind.
The
mechanism for hanging on the tank does not hang level or very tightly. I use
a suction cup inside the tank to stop the skimmer from leaning into the tank.
The ridge from the top of the tank is not factored in this design...
I
am sure there is more that I could say, and am not leaving any room for. Suffice
it to say that this is not the best. I am beginning to think that hang-on
skimmers are better due to not relying on water level so much. If you have
suggestion, please send them my way.
